Ardis Chisnell Obituary

Ardis Arlene (Hodges) Warden-Chisnell, age 95, passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo, MI on April 25, 2024. Born on May 29th, 1928, in Grand Blanc, MI, she was the daughter of Harrison Skylar and Edna Emogene Hodges. Ardis was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Chisnell in 1998, and her beloved husband Lawrence Warden, Jr. in 1988. She had four children and was preceded in death by sons Rodney and Jeffry Warden. She is survived by daughters Teri Fahmie (Mike), Laurie Raleigh (Kenneth), and Jeffry’s wife Deb Warden. Ardis is survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of loving relatives and friends.

Ardis was a graduate of Grand Blanc High School in 1946 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Education from University of Michigan – Flint in 1968. On April 28th, 1956, she married the love of her life, Lawrence Warden, Jr. in their hometown of Fenton, MI. They were married for 32 years.

She began her career as an elementary school teacher for Fenton Public Schools in 1968 and loved teaching third grade. She retired after 21 years of service in 1989. Ardis was an avid reader, bowler, traveler, and wicked card player. She would never turn down a chance to win at Euchre, Bridge, or any other game.

Ardis was involved in many activities and clubs throughout her lifetime, including membership at Fenton United Methodist Church, Joy Circle of United Methodist Church, Shiawassee Mills Questers Chapter, Ladies VFW Auxiliary, Women of the Moose Club, Fenton Forget-me-nots, Linden Loose Senior Center, and Portage Senior Center.

Ardis lived life to the fullest. Her memory will live on through her family and friends. Special thanks to the staff at Bronson Methodist Hospital and Rose Arbor Place, both located in Kalamazoo, MI.

Visitation will be held at Temrowski Family Funeral Home, 500 Main Street, Fenton, MI 48430 on Wednesday, May 1st from 4:00-8:00pm. VFW Auxiliary Memorial service scheduled from 6:00-7:00pm.

Additional visitation will be held at Fenton United Methodist Church, 119 South Leroy Street, Fenton, MI 48430 on Thursday, May 2nd at 12:00pm, followed by the funeral service at 1:00pm. Gravesite ceremony to follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Meal to follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fenton United Methodist Church or Fenton VFW.
