Kenneth Lamson

Kenneth Edwin Lamson of Fenton died Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc. He was 74. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 9 at Temrowski Family Funeral Home, 500 Main Street, Fenton, with memorial visitation from noon to 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Fenton at a later date. Ken and his twin sister, Kathleen, were born at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint on February 1, 1944 to Arthur Irving Lamson and Ruby Eileen (Curtis) Lamson. He was a graduate of Flint Central High School and the University of Michigan. Those who knew Ken universally describe him as a gentle and kind man. He was known for a wide range of interests and projects that he engaged in over his lifetime, including his love of photography, guitar, hypnosis, vintage Volkswagens, University of Michigan football, basement horticulture and eBay. His professional history was just as varied. He taught science and coached tennis at Flint Central High School and also worked at General Motors and as a picture framer, a newspaper deliverer, and a rural mail carrier. He also spent several years in the 1980s as Mr. Mom, taking care of Jake and Emma while Brooke worked. Ken is survived by wife, Brooke (Rausch); sons Curtis (Cherry C. Villanueva), of Kissimmee, FL., and Jacob (Martyna Lapinskaite), of San Diego, CA.; daughter Emma Lamson Edirisinghe (Suhitha Edirisinghe) of Toronto, ON.; grandsons USAF Capt. Kevin Lamson (Aileen Urdanivia) Vandenburg AFB, CA.; Gabriel, Omar and Tobin Edirisinghe, all of Toronto; great-granddaughter Mia Lamson of CA.; sister Kathleen (Kay) Davison of Gaylord; brother Tom (Rita) Lamson of Vero Beach, FL., long-time friend John Werle of Flint and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Eileen Miller and Marjorie Krueger. Ken’s family would like to thank his many caregivers for their expertise and compassion -- the doctors, nurses, certified nurse assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and other caregivers at the University of Michigan Hospital, UM Inpatient Rehab, Caretel Inns of Linden, Glacier Hills Care and Rehabilitation Center, University of Michigan Aphasia Community and Residential Home Health Care. Each of you played a role in Ken’s recovery from numerous health problems and gave him a better quality of life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to YMCA Flint Camp Copneconic.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

~Terese McDermott

We will never forget the 1st time we met Ken. It was about 9 years ago when our son Suhitha started dating Emma and wanted us to meet her parents. We both instantly liked both Ken and Brooke. We have had many more memories with Ken being co-grandparents and all. Please accept our deepest sympathies.

~Nalaka and Kumari Edirisinghe

I have been friends with Ken and Kay since our sophomore year at Central High. We had many great memories together. I am so sorry for your loss.
