Preston Wetzel

Preston Taylor Wetzel, age 24, of Fenton, went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2017. He is the beloved son of Jim and Debbie Olmstead. Dear brother of Amber (Ryan) Brown, Gary (Megan) Wetzel, James Olmstead and Brendan Olmstead. Dear uncle of Gary Brown. Grandson of Raymond Brand. Nephew of Jeff, Kathy and Lisa. Cousin of Joey, Justin, Jeremy and Matthew. Preston also leaves many more aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 19, 6pm at the Linden Free Methodist Church, 13274 Linden Road, Linden. Friends may visit beginning at 4pm. Sandwiches will be served immediately following the service. Preston was a 2012 graduate of Fenton High School. He will be remembered as a loving guy, who worked really hard. He loved to draw and write fiction novels and had the quirkiest laugh that was contagious. Preston was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Cubs fan and thought Batman and Mickey Mouse were cool too. He enjoyed many sandwiches with Frank’s Red Hot, he put that … on everything! For those that would like to make donations to his family, you may do so through the World of Wonder School or Temrowski Family Funeral Home. Dear family of Preston Wetzel ~ We were so, so saddened to hear of your loss. Preston will always hold a very special place in our hearts. He was one of our son, Jesse's first friends when we moved to Fenton in 2011. They had a class together and went through wrestling try-outs together. Jesse looked up to Preston because he was the wrestling Captain and Jesse had never wrestled before. Also, Preston helped us move into our home in November of 2011, he was very strong...It was not an easy task to haul furniture up and down our stairs. I loved the way they joked around and tested each other's strength. The following month, December 2011, Jesse was diagnosed with Leukemia ALL and Preston stayed in touch even after the brain damage caused by chemotherapy toxicity...he did not skip a beat. Preston still treated Jesse the same, always lots of laughs and jokery. We are so thankful Jesse brought Preston into our lives. He blessed us with his humble, kind hearted soul. When Jesse went to heaven on March 6, 2013, there was Preston, again, at his funeral, so supportive & compassionate. As Jesse's mother, my prayer is that you all have the peace and comfort only our Lord can provide. We don't always understand, especially when the pain in so great. Hold on to Preston's special memories and the great times you all had. Your son's memories will forever live on with us... May Preston & Jesse's friendship be everlasting in heaven! Many blessings to you all, Ingrid & family
